This 1904 Victorian home in Manly received a complete reconfiguration. Rooms were re-assigned to make the most of the home’s. natural light, room proportions and natural flow from entertaining to private spaces. To capture the beautiful eastern morning light, the kitchen and lounge rooms moved to the home’s large formal rooms and a grand arch was added between the two. These rooms are accessed off the original entryway, now clad in marble tile, navy wainscotting and a transcendent forest wallpaper—new bespoke lighting throughout complete the spaces. With storage being at a premium, appliances were integrated, technology was hidden, and focal points were created to draw the eye up the 3.3m high ceilings.

a home that is as timeless
as it is welcoming
Solid and natural materials such as marble, timber and brass aim to match the patina and quality of the home's original 1904 build and align with the original stone, timber floors and metal fireplace grilles. The overall tones are soft and muted with dramatic pops of classic navy blue. Scenic wallpaper and new traditional wall panelling gives a dramatic entry point to the home
Reimagining this neglected Victorian Italianate home into a warm and welcoming space for our young family involved reconfiguring the floor plan to place the kitchen, dining and living spaces into the formal front rooms and tucking the bedrooms and bathrooms to the rear of the home. We also created a grand entry for the long hallway that ran the length of the property. The hallway allowed for a dramatic sense of arrival, and transition space before entering the home’s entertaining and private spaces.
